Our Canskate programs require intensive coaching. Program assistants, or PAs, are vital to the success of our skaters. These individuals lead small group sessions, run drill,s and assist skaters with their skills. In the early sessions, they are kept busy "scooping" the little ones that inevitably end up on the ice. They can often be identified by their yellow vests.
Program assistants are often senior members of the skating club. It is a great opportunity for them to give back to the club. Junior members will help with "scooping" and guiding canskaters through their drills. More senior PAs have shown greater leadership and will coach their own groups. PAs are required to take part in an intensive 2 day training session before stepping on the ice. It is a great opportunity for high school students to earn their community volunteer hours. If you are interested in participating, please contact one of the executive.
