Registration is now open for all CanPower, CanSkate and STARSkate programs. Classes will take place at the Waterford Tricenturena. The first CanSkate and STARSkate sessions will be over approximately 11 weeks from October 5 to December 21. CanPower runs for 6 weeks from October 24 - November 28. Registration will continue through the UpLifter portal. You can find more information on our Registration Page. Please be aware that there are many changes this year due to COVID-19. Please read all registration information carefully and make sure to opt in to club communications so that we can keep you up to date on further changes.
WTSC is committed to get everyone on the ice to participate, especially during this difficult time. Financial issues should not prevent a child from skating. Please contact us by email at WTSC.email@example.com or speak to a board member if you need assistance. We are happy to answer any questions about our programs.
We are all very excited to get back to skating. However, there will be some changes this year to keep everyone healthy. Skate Ontario has released the following video as a guide to give you an idea of what to expect: COVID-19 Safety Protocols.
Thanks to everyone who participated and made our first virtual AGM a success. It was great to see everyone and a big change from how we normally run things. We have posted a video of the AGM on our YouTube Channel. If your child was presented an award but unable to attend, you can watch your coach say a few words about them. You can watch the video by clicking on the link https://youtu.be/tviSQlOckgk. The awards presentation starts around 13:15 and the order of awards is in the description of the video.
Please return 50/50 tickets and cash to WTSC by June 23, 2020 to prepare for the draw. Enclose them in a sealed plastic bag or envelope. You can drop them off at 216 Old Highway 24 in Bloomsburg and place it in the mailbox right next to the front door. Please call Jenn Bard at (519) 427-8685 to confirm, so she knows to expect you. Alternatively, if you need some to pick them up for you, either email firstname.lastname@example.org or call (519) 427-8685 to arrange it. Above all remember social distancing and stay safe!
Unfortunately, our 50/50 draw that was planned for Carnival this week has been cancelled, along with all other club activities, due to issues relating to the coronavirus pandemic. The draw has been rescheduled for July 1, 2020 at 3 pm. We would ask that all members in possession of 50/50 tickets and money hold onto them for now. They will be collected at a later date. If anyone who has purchased tickets would like a refund, they can contact the club by email at WTSC.email@example.com or call/text the club president Jennifer Bard at (519) 427-8685.
Registration for the Winter skating session IS NOW OPEN. We have a new online registration system and you can now register using credit card, e-transfer, cash or cheque! Sessions will take place from October 3, 2019 until April 2, 2020. There will be CanSkate lessons for beginners and Group and Private StarSkate sessions for figure skaters in both Waterford and Simcoe. Details can be found on the registration site. Our newest program will be Me and My Parent Pre-CanSkate. This program is for our youngest skaters that are just starting out. The first few lessons will have a parent/guardian on ice with the child as they learn to skate. The goal is for the children to skate on their own without their parent/guardian for the second half of the program. Both the parent and child will need to register for the program so that they will each have a Skate Canada number (for insurance purposes).
New this year, there is a $100 discount for CanSkate participants that are also involved in Minor Hockey. CanSkate is an excellent program to learn to skate for hockey. After registering in CanSkate, provide proof of registration with Minor Hockey to the Registration Chair Brenda Johnson and we will refund you $100.
Concussion Code of Conduct
The Ontario government has enacted a new law, Rowan's Law, to increase awareness of concussion and reduce injuries to young athletes. It is named for a young rugby player that died after repeated concussions were not recognized. The law requires that every adult, or the parent/guardian of every athlete under 18 review educational material regarding concussion and the club must document this. There is also a requirement to affirm this before every competition. Please review the Concussion Code of Conduct on our site and then fill out the Concussion Form for every skater (child, PA or adult) that will be on ice with the club. As of October 17, you will be unable to skate with the club unless your Concussion Form has been completed.
Thanks to all the people and sponsors that made this year's 50th Anniversary Carnival featuring Elvis Stojko a huge success.
We are an energetic club with a variety of Skate Canada sanctioned programs that cater to skaters of every level and ability.
Lessons are available in both Simcoe & Waterford & we accept registrations throughout the year.
If you have any questions please email our club executive.
On December 20th, 2018 we are pleased to announce that the WINNER of the 50/50 draw of $2000 is Joyce Brouillette of Cambridge!
The winning ticket was sold by Karen Kroes. Congratulations, Joyce!!
