Coaches
Maddie Bard

Hi my name is Maddie Bard. I started in WTSC's own CanSkate program at four years old. I completely fell in love with the sport and haven't stopped skating since. I had always wanted to be a coach from a young age, so when I got the opportunity to be a Program Assistant I jumped at the chance. I have been a Program Assistant for seven years. This past summer I did my CanSkate Coaches course and became a Trained CanSkate Coach. I am very excited to start this season as a coach for the first time. I am looking forward to passing on my love of skating to new skaters in the CanSkate program. See you on the ice!
Carly Burow

My name is Carly Burow, and I have been figure skating since I was 12 years old. Although I started late, I quickly fell in love with the sport and being on ice. This past year I competed at the star 5 level, and have past tests in free skate, dance, and skills. I am an NCCP certified coach and am very excited coaching CanSkate this year at WTSC. I cannot wait for a full year of fun, growth, and development.

As a former coach with Waterford Skating Club I look forward to joining the club & taking on new students and to help them achieve their goals. As a Skate Canada Nationally Trained Professional Coach with 40 yrs experience, I enjoy & have extensive experience working with all ages & abilities, from Learn to Skate – Gold Level, including Adults and Hockey Players up to NHL. I am proud to say I have over 80 Skate Canada Gold Medalists: Figures, Free Skate, Dance, Artistic, Interpretive & Skills. As a Skater representing Port Dover Skating Club I competed Internationally & won many medals & placed 6th & 8th at Nationals (Professional) then joined Delhi Precision (Synchro) Team where we became International Champions. Also I had the opportunity to perform solo at Maple Leaf Gardens twice at AHL Toronto Marlies game and V.I.C.K.Y. show which was a benefit for visually impaired skaters.
Lastly I am very proud of my daughter Sophia who became a Skate Canada Quintuple Gold Medalist and for having the courage to skate with me to achieve our Skate Canada Couples Gold Interpretive. Sophia has also taken her first steps to coaching after volunteer coaching for many years.
Looking forward to a successful year.

I have been a professional figure skating coach since 1987, teaching in a variety of small and large clubs. I have had skaters from beginner to National level, from 3 years old to adult, primary tests to gold level. I am able to teach all disciplines, and I am excited to be a part of the team in Waterford this season. I enjoy watching athletes develop, whether recreationally or competitively, and am eager to be involved in growth and achievement in our sport. I particularly enjoy seeing what knowledge I can share with a skater that helps them to meet their full potential.
